A Triumph of Individual Class, Strong Teamwork and Resilience
After three weeks of intense competition across France and Spain, Lidl-Trek concluded the 2026 Tour de France campaign as one of the most dominant forces in the peloton, marking a milestone in the team's evolution. With a stage victory, the prestigious Green Jersey, a triumph in the overall Team Classification, two riders placing in the General Classification top 10 and all eight riders arriving in Paris, the team has showcased the pinnacle of competitive cycling.
A Showcase of Individual Excellence and Collective Strength
The campaign was anchored by the strength of Mads Pedersen, whose victory on Stage 4 served as a masterclass in individual talent, perfectly supported by his dedicated teammates. Mads Pedersen’s relentless drive with the tireless support from his teammates throughout the three weeks culminated in the crowning achievement of the Sprinter’s Green Jersey.
Simultaneously, our strategic depth was on full display during the three weeks. Juan Ayuso and Mattias Skjelmose both secured top-10 finishes in the General Classification, confirming their status among the top riders. These achievements, combined with the team’s unwavering tactical maturity, led to Lidl-Trek claiming the overall Team Classification— the ultimate testament to a unit that operates as a single, powerful entity.
“The 2026 Tour de France has been a historic chapter for Lidl-Trek, one that perfectly reflects the strategic ambition we set out before the Grand Départ in Barcelona. Achieving these results required more than just individual brilliance—it demanded a synchronized effort from every rider, sports director, the technical staff and everyone around the team. Seeing Mads Pedersen claim the Green Jersey while simultaneously securing the overall Team Classification is a great testament to our squad’s tactical maturity, adaptability and resilience. We didn’t just participate in this Tour, we also shaped it.”
Thomas Rohregger, Head of Cycling at Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG.
A Tribute to Leadership
As the curtain falls on this year’s Tour de France, it also marks the conclusion of a transformative era for Lidl-Trek. After 16 years at the helm, General Manager Luca Guercilena is stepping down from his role. Lidl, Trek, and our collective family of sponsors wish to express our profound gratitude to Luca. His leadership has been the cornerstone of the team’s growth and success over nearly two decades. Luca has navigated the team through the evolution of professional cycling with integrity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. While he concludes his tenure as General Manager, his impact remains woven into the DNA of Lidl-Trek. We are united in celebrating his extraordinary contributions, which have built the foundation for the success we celebrate today.
“The 2026 Tour de France has been an unforgettable journey, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Luca Guercilena and the entire Lidl-Trek team for their incredible performance and spirit over these three weeks. To the riders—Mads Pedersen, Juan Ayuso, Mattias Skjelmose, Quinn Simmons, Toms Skujiņš, Carlos Verona, Mathias Vacek, and Derek Gee-West—thank you for your relentless dedication, tactical maturity, and the inspiring teamwork you demonstrated on every stage over the last three weeks.”
Jens Thiemer, Chief Customer Officer at Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG.
