Responsibility starts with us – and requires dialogue

For us at Lidl, economic success and corporate responsibility go hand in hand. As one of Europe’s largest food retailers, we see it as part of our corporate identity to act as a driving force in shaping key issues of the future – from environmental protection to strengthening human rights. Dialogue is a fundamental part of how we work, because responsibility can only succeed through collaboration.

At the same time, we are aligning our strategy and organisation to ensure that responsible, future-oriented solutions are not only developed, but embedded across the entire company. Our principles of corporate due diligence provide the framework for this. They make our responsibilities measurable and strengthen accountability throughout our entire supply chain. 

Beyond this, we take responsibility through environmental and social partnerships such as those with WWF and Fairtrade, through targeted sport partnerships and through active engagement with our stakeholders. In this way, we use our role to drive positive change together.

Responsible business conduct is not an add-on for us – it is the foundation of our success. Sustainability is therefore an integral part of our corporate strategy and guides our long-term decisions.

Putting responsibility into practice

From clear rules to strong partnerships: we take our corporate responsibility seriously and bring it to life – transparently, consistently and always with a focus on a sustainable future.

We have drafted a policy statement in which we commit to respecting human rights and environmental standards in all areas of our business operations and define our approach. With this statement, we demonstrate that we take responsibility and aim to contribute to improvements in our supply chains and within our own business operations through targeted engagement. This includes, in particular, a commitment to internationally recognized frameworks such as the UN Charter of Human Rights, the ILO Core Labor Standards, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
