To sustainably feed a growing global population within planetary boundaries, and to address climate change, biodiversity loss and diet-related diseases, a global transformation of food systems is essential. At Lidl, we are aware of our particular responsibility due to our size and market position. We therefore aim to drive change in the retail sector and set impulses that extend beyond our own business – through a continuously expanding range of plant-based foods. In doing so, we enable our customers to make healthier choices that are often associated with lower emissions.
Our goal is to promote a conscious diet that is increasingly based on plant-based products and takes into account the environmental impact of food production. We align our assortment with the guiding principles of the Planetary Health Diet, which recommends a higher proportion of plant-based foods such as wholegrains, vegetables, legumes, nuts and fruit, alongside a reduced consumption of animal-based products. Accordingly, we are continuously developing our private label range. In this way, we contribute to a diet that benefits individuals, the planet and future generations.
